We are happy to announce the May Student of the Month at Mind Your Body Oasis
Seneca Sok
Happy May Day! We are thrilled to announce that Seneca Sok has been selected as the Student of the Month for May.
We love seeing Seneca in the studio as she has developed a regular practice and made many advances as a yogi. Seneca is not only a joy to be around but she also possesses the qualities we look for in our student of the month. Our student of the month:
- is dedicated to a consistent practice
- has a willingness and desire to help others
- lives and practices the elements of a yogi lifestyle
- treats their body as a temple through good nutrition, meditation, etc.
- serves as an ambassador to MYBO through social media and recommendations
We asked Seneca to share a little bit about herself and her commitment to yoga.

A little about Seneca:
A little about Seneca:
She was born and raised
in Virginia and
currently resides in Arlington, VA. Her
hobbies include traveling, eating tasty
foods, riding
her bike, practicing
yoga,
hiking, discovering
new
places, and lifting
weights. She
tries to be
crafty on occasions
whether
in the kitchen
or with
her crochet
needles. She works in Washington, DC
as a Policy
Analyst
for the US Department of Transportation. She is passionate about
living
her life to
the fullest and not holding back
or being
afraid to
try new things
and
take on new opportunities,
whether
it’s
deepening her yoga practice or trying
out a
foreign
cuisine.
A fun fact about Seneca:
Her real name is Saintseneca.
Seneca's motivation to practice yoga:
Yoga makes her feel like
she can
do anything. She
is motivated by her yoga
guru (Soozie!)
and her fellow
yogis
and yoginis
at MYBO. She loves vibing off
of others in class.
Seeing
others
try new things
makes
her want
to try new shapes and new ways of transitioning into different asanas. It’s also
a great stress reliever since work life can
get hectic.
Since adding yoga to her life, Seneca has seen her core strength improve and has gained flexibility. Mentally, she has found that she stresses less and is more zen. Yoga has helped her let go of the little things and just let it flow.
How she stays centered:
Yoga has really been her tool
for staying
centered
and calm in
this hectic world.
"We live
in a
place that’s constantly moving and
yoga really slows down the world around me so she
can focus on herself."
Her
favorite thing about MYBO:
“My favorite things about MYBO are
the people and instructors. The
instructors
provide a welcoming
environment and
they really care about her well being
on
and off the mat. The people that practice at MYBO are
all from different
backgrounds
such as gender and ages. It’s nice that
we all get to connect when we’re all on our mat. ”
Seneca's advice for people considering yoga:
"I say go for it, be patient, keep an open mind and you don’t have to be flexible. Flexibility is something that develops over time with constant practice. Yoga is a journey with one’s self. For me, there's no end point in yoga. I am constantly developing my practice and learning new things. Don’t get frustrated, just try your best and keep practicing. Eventually, you will reach your goal."
