Student of the Month for June: Christopher Medvigy

We are happy to announce the student of the month for June!
Christopher Medvigy

We are thrilled to announce that Chris Medvigy has been selected as the Student of the Month for June.  We love seeing Chris regularly in the studio as he works to improve this practice and continues to push himself outside his comfort zone.  Chris was chosen as Student of the Month due to his dedicated practice, willingness and desire to help other, his healthy and active lifestyle and by serving as an ambassador to MYBO.

A little about Chris:
Chris is from New Jersey and is the youngest of 7 siblings.  He moved to Pennsylvania for higher education, served as an officer in the military afterwards, and then joined the US Department of State.  At State, he works with the Bureau of Diplomatic Security Service as a protective intel analyst.  (If you are a 24 TV fan don't believe that Jack Bauer can take out a DSS agent so easily, Hollywood!)

His hobbies include motorcycle racing, mountain and street cycling, tri training and learning how to get the most of out his body.  He is most passionate about training, training and food (gotta have fuel for the training..right?!).

Other fun facts about Chris include his adventures in night parachuting, having visited 126 foreign cities and having lived in Korea, Germany, Japan, Lebanon and Algeria.

Motivation to practice yoga:
Chris is motivated to practice yoga so he can be pain and injury free. He enjoys extreme sports and martial arts which have all battered his body. Yoga has helped him repair it through flexibility, focus and range of motion strengthening.  Chris was one of the 2 people at MYBO that completed a 90 day hot yoga challenge, sometimes completing two or three classes a day.  During those 90 days, Chris found that he never got hurt or came close to being sick the entire time.  Chris also appreciates the mental challenge of yoga and how it has toughen his focus.

Yoga advice:
"My advice to people starting yoga would be “Go for it!” It will improve your life; you will get to see your toes, then maybe even touch your toes.  Take one step at a time; (even chair yoga), one day at a time, you will improve with consistent practice, and then you will surprise yourself.
One thing that keeps me centered and calm in this crazy world is to consider the worst case scenario (my occupation’s training), then be surprised when it turns out better or be already prepared if it goes south.  Nothing will be the end of the world, well except for the end of the world then we start a new adventure! Lol."
