Student of the Month for July: Dawn Ripplemeyer

We are happy to announce the student of the month for July!
We're happy to introduce you to Dawn, our Student of the Month for June! Dawn is a dedicated yoga student who constantly seeks out new challenges and ways to deepen her practice.

A little bit about Dawn:

Dawn is originally from Burnsville, Minnesota and has been involved in sports and fitness for as long as she can remember. Growing up she played team sports and ran track and cross country. These days  she does everything from ballet to boxing with CrossFit and TRX Suspension in between. Her typical day starts at 4 a.m. with meditation, her dog Tovar usually tries to join in.

Fun fact; Dawn’s first chant class? She burst into giggles and had to leave the room!

Motivation to practice yoga:
Dawn began practicing yoga in 2012 after a deployment to Afghanistan. Body tightness and flexibility loss prompted her to commit to a month of yoga practice. It didn’t take long until she was hooked. "The more I practice the more I am interested in discovering other aspects of yoga beyond the physical asanas," she says. "I  believe there is a connection between the mind, body, and spirit, so yoga is a natural fit with that.  Yoga calms the craziness of life and reveals what's really important.“

Yoga advice:
"The advice I would give to people considering yoga is: don't hesitate. Don't be frustrated or self-conscious about your abilities. Yoga is a place where you can truly be noncompetitive and just accept where you are right now. You will improve and grow in your practice. You may not notice them from day-to-day, but give it time and you will see positive changes!"
