We are happy to announce the student of the month for March!
We are thrilled to announce that Nancy Combs has been selected as the Student of the Month for March!
A
little about Nancy:
Nancy
is a lifelong learner and enjoys seeking out new ways to challenge
herself. After retiring from a wonderful
career in the US Air Force, she went on to law school and is currently employed
as an Assistant Counsel with the Defense Logistics Agency Energy.
Nancy
is originally from California and still has strong connections with the state
(especially after this winter!). She
enjoys all the wonderful things that the DC area has to offer and most
importantly, being a part of the wonderful community at Mind Your Body
Oasis. She came to MYBO three months
after a post card announcing the studio showed up in her mail. She has felt nothing but support and
connection since her first class. The
sense of community, support and connection is what has become the biggest
motivator to practice yoga regularly.
Through
yoga, Nancy is celebrating the power and gift that she has with her body and
spiritual-self.
If asked for her advice
on starting yoga, Nancy states:
“This
isn’t a competition. Don’t compare yourself to the person on the next mat.
Don’t criticize yourself. Instead, practice is about exploring and enjoying and
loving the wonderful capabilities you possess.”
This
sense of gratitude and appreciation is the biggest benefit she realized from
practicing yoga. The sense of satisfaction from a session mindfully undertaken
is what keeps her coming back and helps to keep her centered in this hectic
world.
Fun
fact about Nancy: She won Karl Kastle’s
voice on her answering machine as a contestant on Wait Wait
Don’t Tell Me (NPR radio show)
