Hannah Bangal has been practicing yoga steadily for the past 2 years after many different workout routines that were not stimulating her mentally. Her passion grew after enrolling in the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. She now focuses her energy on yoga and nutrition, being whole in both body and mind.
I began my
yoga journey five years ago while I was in college. My practice was not steady
nor dedicated.
I am happy to say that today my practice has reached a level I
never thought it would.
Five years
ago, yoga to me was a way to get a workout in without the exhausting cardio but with the addition of relaxing stretching. I guess you could take into account
the fact that I was in college at the time and my priorities may not have been
in line. Since then, yoga has given me a new outlook on life. Once I was able
to focus on the breath and stop thinking about what was going on that night or
if people were staring at me funny, my practice was taken to a different level.
I learned to be selfish for that hour or
hour and a half, which is something that was totally new to me.
How becoming
selfish helped me grow:
- I could focus on all the positive inside myself and was not held up on the negative
- Once I began to love myself inside, I began to have a positive light towards others
- Instead of thinking about others and what they though, I was able to be happy with my own thoughts
- Yoga gave me a positive feeling which I could then take out into the world and carry with me throughout my day
